Playoffs?! Playoffs?! You kiddin’ me? Playoffs?!
Jim Mora’s famously famous rant has echoed through my head these past couple of days. However, they are a bit out of context. The former Indianapolis Colts head coach was irked about the cart-before-horsedness of a member of the media who asked about his struggling team’s post-season outlook. His response was to clarify that playoffs were at the bottom of a priority list that began with at least winning a game.
When I see ESPN, Fox Sports and the rest of the online sports community abuzz over the “excitement” about the new college football “playoffs,” I get sick to my stomach. Hello! Hello, McFly! The BCS and college football are pulling a fast one on us worse than Marty leading Biff’s car right into that manure truck. THIS IS NOT A “PLAYOFF”!! It is only a “plus-one” system. And we, the fans, have BCS manure all over us because we are falling for it.
I am not satisfied! And I will not be satisfied until there is at least a 16-team tournament to decide which SEC team inevitably walks away with the trophy. I don’t care if it is the first step in the right direction. Why in the world can we not have a real tournament to decide the champ? The money would pour in and the ratings would skyrocket. Don’t give me the “the regular season matters” argument. It would still be important if only 16 teams got in.
And who doesn’t love March Madness? Well, how the heck about December Madness? It would give us a wild month of playoff college football in a month where college football is currently disappointingly absent. It would be the best time of year … and everyone could have a horse in the race.
So, don’t sell me this idea and call it a “playoff”. How dumb do they think we are?

I think this is a good alternative: http://bcsplayoffbracket.webs.com/
